Wajid Ali Durrani” humaray hoslay past nahi hongay!” stated while talking about the attack at Chaudari Aslam’s (SSP CID) house in Karachi DHA, his sentiments are appreciated but they also bring a few very obvious questions to mind like;
How come someone with such important and dangerous job is so published? Where he lived, how he looked etc?
Usually junior police men are used as security measures while camping out near PM, CM, SSP’s and dozens of more important official’s residences, however this practice never worked or will work, except highlighting the important persons location.
And then above all why he was placed, so prominently among average residential area, where schools are nearby? He was handling sensitive cases, and had threats, putting average citizens in harm’s way completely fails any security attempts at all.
Today eight people killed, among them mostly young police men lost their lives and left their families devastated, a lady teacher and her son lost their lives too, just because their school was there.
May be it is not a loss big enough for law enforcement officials to get their act together, one wonders what can make them do the job what they are hired for? Or they are just hired to protect those” VIP people” only? Like half a dozen killed at the SSP’S house?
Security is not number of people surrounding you or raids after the attack announced, or just “security high alert” label and daring statements from officials; Security means a whole state of mind, vigilance, intelligence and critical thinking all combined together which should be applied in training of our police men and other security officials all from junior to senior.
Its keep happening and our administration doesn’t learn, unfortunately most of the time their obliviousness causes more harm than good for a common man …. We clearly remember that day 8th March last year, when we heard a huge blast in Model town, people all over Model town felt the jolts as it was an earthquake, lost their windows, and ran to save their lives, electricity was cut off for hours, Whole incident was caused when a heavily explosive laden pick up rammed in to FIA’s Head Quarter situated in Model Town residential area …near schools and mosques many lives lost, and property destroyed… Clearly FIA HQ was situated at a completely wrong place, first for its own sake, because highly sensitive head quarters should be discreet, and UN predictable for anyone to guess, and not pointed and published at roads which lead to them,
Un believable it was then and still is when we are seeing another explosion in Karachi DHA, happening right in the middle of an area populated with schools nearby… it seems that we handed over our security in to the wrong hands, they can’t keep themselves safe, how can they will protect general public? …
In both incidents huge amount of explosives were brought in to the neighborhoods, check posts and guards were useless…. Every day we citizens experience fences, detours, and diversions, we adjust to be part of our increased security requirements, every little convenience parking is lost, we park farthest from any building, we want to go in, cross security gates, let them use scanners on us or our cars…. And then we see another explosion …, no place is safe, near check posts, during high security alerts, with warning without warning, our security gets breached all the time, … GHQ ,FIA, Or A SSP’s house in Karachi.
We need to re think ourselves, train our , police security personnel and train them well, just blue uniform or tall gun will not make them save us from our enemy, some time untrained staff without much training and without the real concept of what are they working up against, can cause more harm than safety. Security should not just stop at importing security devices, cameras scanners or gates Guards , police men senior or junior, should trained to be vigilant and consistent.
We may not needed these spy trainings, in our past, however now in changing time to counter our enemy we desperately need it, since we joined a war and “we are the front line guard for the rest of the World from terrorism, we have to think, plan and act differently….
For our security officials there is no need to invent the wheel, we can learn from other Nations who are successful at their security measures, like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, and then to consider our own unique scenario and plan a broad based plan to protect and serve the poor public.
